Calling All Umpires
With the ball season rapidly approaching, Lumsden Minor Ball Association is looking for kids aged 12 and above who are interested in working as baseball and/or softball umpires for the 2025 season.
The LMBA pay per game depends on which level you are umping at and is the same rate for softball as well as baseball. You may only umpire games in the level below which you are of the age to play in. The rates are as follows:
U11 - $40
U13 - $45
U15 - $50
U17 Softball - $50
U18 Baseball - $75
Whether you have umpired in years prior or this will be your first year, you are required to take an umpire clinic for certification each year.
For baseball umpires, Level 1 is a 2 year program and you must be 12 years of age. Level 2 is a 3 year program and you must be 14 years of age. Level 1 and Level 2 clinics cost $30. You will need to pay this fee at the time of registration however, once you are registered to umpire with Lumsden Minor Ball that fee will be reimbursed to you with your first paycheck. Please note that if your were an registered umpire last year and it shows that you have a remaining balance owing, please let me know but do not pay it.
Once you have registered using the link below you can then register and complete the online modules. On field Umpire Clinics have not been posted to the Baseball Sask website at this time but Lumsden Baseball Umpire Clinics are scheduled to be held Sunday, April 6th. Level 1 will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Level 2 will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You may attend any of the clinics held throughout the province if that date does not work for you. Those interested in becoming a softball umpire must also attend an umpire clinic specifically for softball. The LMBA will be hosting a clinic in Lumsden this season on Saturday, April 5th as well you can attend any clinics being offered throughout the province. For anyone under 18 years of age, softball umpire clinics cost $40. Softball umpire clinic fees are paid by you at the time of registration and will be reimbursed to you on your first umpire paycheck. Please refer to the following link for details and to register:
